形态特征：常绿乔木，嫩枝、叶背、花梗、花萼及子房均被柔毛，嫩叶通常暗紫红色，枝扁且有棱，具刺。叶质颇厚，阔卵形或椭圆形，顶端钝或圆，有时短尖，钝锯齿。总状花序，花单生，有时兼有腋生单花，花蕾淡紫红色，花瓣反曲，白色。果圆球形或梨形，多黄色、淡黄绿色，果皮海绵质，多腺点。种子形状不规则，单胚。花期4-5月，果期9-12月。品种多，作食用或药用。
形态特征：常绿小乔木，分枝多，枝有较少的刺。单叶互生，翼叶狭窄或仅有叶痕，叶片披针形、椭圆形或卵形等，革质，大小变异大，先端渐尖，顶端常有凹口，全缘或疏浅锯齿。花单生或2-3朵簇生，花瓣5枚，通常长1.5厘米以内，黄白色。果扁球形，熟时红色、黄色或朱红色，果皮橘络呈网状，果肉易剥离，味酸或甜，或有苦味，或另有特异气味。种子通常卵形，多胚，少有单胚。花期4-5月，果期10-12月。品种甚多，作水果、...
