形态特征：常绿乔木，高可达45米，树冠宽塔形或伞形。树皮红褐色，下部灰褐色，裂成不规则的鳞状块片。针叶每束2根，细长而柔韧，边缘有细锯齿，长12-20厘米，先端尖锐。雄花序无柄，柔荑状，腋生在新权的基部，雄蕊螺旋状排列；雌花序球形，一至数个生于新枝的顶端或上部。球果长圆状卵形，成熟后栗褐色。种子长卵圆形，有翅。花期4-5月，果期9-10月。
