2006年9月5日我国第一套三维全息电子沙盘在北京国际会议中心对外展示，该系统在功能上与Google Earth有诸多类似之处，部分功能甚至更加强大易用。这是该系统第一次向外界展示，暂时还没有名称。该系统可以非常迅速流畅的显示目标区域的360度全景三维画面，画面中任何一点海拔、经纬度坐标等信息也可实时显示。目前该系统已经完全成熟，在该系统平台基础上可以做各种应用开发，例如交通、航空、救援等应用。
