在星际间乃至星系际间,宇宙尘埃无处不在。这些尘埃吸收恒星或者黑洞吸积盘(注1)发出的光学、紫外光子以后自身被加热,在能量更低的红外波段发出辐射。一个星系中,尽管尘埃在星际物质中所占的质量分数只有约1%,但将近50%的星系总能量由尘埃辐射所产生。在更遥远的宇宙深处,这个比例将更大。因此对红外电磁辐射的研究将帮助人们了解星系中尘埃的性质,从而更好地认识星系的性质及其演化。

近日,由中国天文学会与中国科学院国家天文台共同组织的2014年度“十大天文科技进展”评选结果揭晓,南京天光所报送的 “大口径离轴非球面镜预应力环抛技术取得突破”成功获选。另外, “LAMOST DR2 数据发布”、“光学和近红外太阳爆发探测望远镜(ONSET)成功建成并投入观测”等两项成果也有我所科研人员的突出贡献,在此我们向为获奖项目做出贡献的全体人员表示衷心的感谢和祝贺!
