Hybrid-effect transmission enhancement induced by oblique illumination in nano-ridge waveguide
2011/11/24
In a nano-ridge waveguide under oblique illumination, we demonstrated transmission enhancement resulting from a hybrid effect between propagation modes and surface plasmon wave. The measured near-fiel...
Lognormal Distribution of Single Molecule Fluorescence Bursts in Micro/Nano-Fluidic Channels
Lognormal Distribution Single Molecule Fluorescence Burst Micro/Nano-Fluidic Channels
2011/8/5
Abstract: The width and shape of photon burst histograms pose significant limitations to the identification of single molecules in micro/nano-fluidic channels, and the nature of these histograms is no...
Buckled nano rod - a two state system: quantum effects on its dynamics
Buckled nano rod two state system quantum effects dynamics
2011/8/4
Abstract: We consider a suspended elastic rod under longitudinal compression. The compression can be used to adjust potential energy for transverse displacements from harmonic to double well regime. T...
Optical bistability and hysteresis of hybrid metal-semiconductor nano-dimer
bistability metal-semiconductor
2011/9/13
Optical response of an artificial composite nano-dimer comprising a semiconductor quantum dot and a metal nanosphere is analyzed theoretically. We show that internal degrees of freedom of the system c...
A consequence of the repulsive Casimir-Lifshitz force on nano-scale and the related Wheeler propagator in the classical electrodynamics
repulsive Casimir-Lifshitz force nano-scale related Wheeler propagator
2010/12/24
Mainly on nano-scale, but maybe not exclusively, it can be imagined a spontaneous charge disjunction inside certain media due to the fluctuations, collisions, wall effects, radiation or/and other pre...
Energy gaps in graphene nano-constrictions with different aspect ratios
Energy gaps graphene nano-constrictions different aspect ratios
2010/11/19
We present electron transport measurements on lithographically defined and etched graphene
nano-constrictions with different aspect ratios, including different length (l) and width (w). A roughly len...
Far-Field Plasmonic Resonance Enhanced Nano-Particle Image Velocimetry within a Micro Channel
Far-Field Plasmonic Resonance Nano-Particle Image Velocimetry Micro Channel
2010/11/16
In this paper, a novel far-field plasmonic resonance enhanced nanoparticle-seeded Particle Image Velocimetry (nPIV) has been demonstrated to measure the velocity profile in a micro channel. Chemicall...

Efficiency of autonomous soft nano-machines maximum power
2010/11/22
We consider nano-sized artificial or biological machines working in steady state enforced by imposing non-equilibrium concentrations of solutes or by applying external forces, torques or electric fiel...
Hysteresis and intermittency in a nano-bridge based suspended DC-SQUID
Hysteresis intermittency nano-bridge based suspended DC-SQUID
2010/11/11
We study voltage response of nano-bridge based DC-SQUID fabricated on a Si\_{3}N\_{4} membrane. Such a configuration may help in reducing 1/f noise, which originates from substrate fluctuating defects...
