国际职业安全健康信息中心作为国际劳工部机构之一，创始于1959年，成立目的在于收集（不受格式和语言限制）世界各地最新发布的职业安全与健康相关信息。1959－1973年间该中心以成套文献卡片的形式发布信息，把这些卡片发送到世界各地的订阅者手中。1973年实现服务计算机化，自此一直致力于利用计算机打造高质量的双语（英语和法语）信息库。该中心每两个月发布一次最新职业安全与健康信息报告。
