形态特征：常绿乔木，高可达15米。幼枝有棱，被褐色短绒毛。叶近对生或互生，长椭圆形至披针形，革质，全缘，表面绿色，光滑有光泽，背面粉绿色，被柔毛。圆锥花序腋生或近顶生，花小，浅黄绿色。果椭圆形，成熟时黑紫色，无毛；果托浅杯状，长4毫米，顶端宽达7毫米，边缘截平或略具齿裂。花期6-8月，果期10-12月。
