形态特征：落叶乔木，高达16米；树皮青绿色，平滑。叶心形，掌状3-5裂，裂片三角形，顶端渐尖，基部心形，两面均无毛或略被短柔毛。圆锥花序顶生，长约20-50厘米，下部分枝长达12厘米，花淡黄绿色。蓇葖果膜质，成熟前开裂成叶状，每蓇葖果有种子2-4个；种子圆球形，表面有绉纹，直径约7毫米。花期6月，果期10月。
